Dr. Stanford Blade

Dr. Stan Blade is Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences (ALES) at the University of Alberta and an International Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry. He was born in Alberta, Canada, where he was raised on a dairy and grain farm. He is a proud alumnus of the University of Alberta and has studied at the University of Saskatchewan and McGill University. Dr. Blade is also a graduate of the Wharton Business School’s Executive Development Program. He previously served as the Deputy Director General (Research) for the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture and was the founding Chief Executive Officer of the Alberta Innovates Bio Solutions Corporation. Dr. Blade has published extensively, is the winner of several awards from the American Society of Agronomy and the Crop Science Society of America, and is a member of various professional societies and international committees. He has traveled and worked in 85+ countries around the world.

Professor Vijay P. Singh is a University Distinguished Professor, a Regents Professor, and the inaugural holder of the Caroline and William N. Lehrer Distinguished Chair in Water Engineering at Texas A&M University, USA. He received his B.Sc & Tech., M.S., Ph.D. and D.Sc. degrees in engineering. He is a registered professional engineer, a registered professional hydrologist, and an Honorary Diplomate of ASCE-AAWRE. He is a Distinguished Member of ASCE, an Honorary Distinguished Member of IWRA, a Distinguished Fellow of AGGS, and an Honorary Member of AWRA, and a Fellow of EWRI-ASCE, IAH, ISAE, IWRS, and IASWC. He is a member of National Academy of Engineering (NAE) and a fellow/member of 12 international science/engineering academies. He has published extensively in the areas of hydrology, irrigation engineering, hydraulics, groundwater, water quality, water resources, entropy theory, copula theory, and climate change impacts with more than 1455 refereed journal articles; 35 textbooks; 85 edited reference books, including the Handbook of Applied Hydrology and Encyclopedia of Snow, Ice and Glaciers; 120 book chapters; and 330 conference papers. He has received three honorary doctorates from Italy and Canada, and more than 107 national and international awards, including Norman Medal, Chow Award, Torrens Award, Arid Lands Hydraulic Engineering Award, and Outstanding Projects and Leader (OPAL) Award, and Roy C. Tipton Award, all given by American Society of Civil Engineers; Hancor Award given by American Society of Agricultural & Biological Engineers; Merriam Improved Irrigation Award, given by International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage; Linsley Award, Wetzel Award, and Founders Award, given by American Institute of Hydrology; Crystal Drop Award and Chow Memorial Award, given by International Water Resources Association; Outstanding Scientist Award given by Sigma Xi; Distinguished Scientist Award, given by Chinese Academy of Science; Distinguished Professor Award, given by Mexican Academy of Science; Professor Gajendra Singh Gold Medal for Education, given by Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers; to name but a few. He has served as President of the American Institute of Hydrology (AIH); President of American Academy of Water Resources Engineers; President of International Association for Water, Environment, Energy, and Society; and Chair of Watershed Council of American Society of Civil Engineers. He has served as editor-in-chief of five journals and two book series and serves on editorial boards of more than 25 journals and three book series. He has given more than 145 keynote lectures and 300 invited seminars all over the world, and has organized more than 25 international conferences and His Google Scholar citations are more 85000; h-index of 120; and I10-index of 1040.
Dr. Harlina Suzana Jaafar

Harlina graduated her PhD (Marketing Logistics) from Loughborough University in 2006, England and Masters in Transport from Cardiff University, UK in 1993. She actively involves in the development of Halal Supply Chain standard for Malaysia and OIC countries, in which she is now the Chairman of Technical Committee (TC) 10 Halal Supply Chain under the Standard Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) in Istanbul and Islamic Standard Committee member at Standards Malaysia. Currently, she is an Academic Member of the National Logistics Task Force, Ministry of Transport and certified trainer for the Human Resource Development Corporation, Ministry of Human Resource and former trainer for the Certified Professional Halal Executive Program by the Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia (JAKIM). She has also published in more than 100 journals, proceedings, chapter in a book, technical report, professional report, and policy paper in various areas in logistics and supply chain particularly halal supply chain and trade and green logistics.
